21st Century Skills
This PBL will address several 21st Century Skills, but the primary skills that will practiced are (a) Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, (b) Creativity and Innovation, and (c) Communication and Collaboration. Activities in this PBL that support these three primary skills are listed below:

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
- Learners will perform market and product research to determine characteristics of desirable products. They will also synthesize and analyze the data and information they collect and will apply this information to their own designs.
- Learners will need to determine necessary questions and then research the intricate details to learn of the technological components that will lead to better advances in their product.
Creativity and Innovation
- Learners will work together in their groups to determine their desired product based upon their brainstorming sessions, market analysis among their peers, or any other creation technique that seems appropriate.
- Learners will implement their imagination and creativity to design their product to outshine the other products in the class.
- Learners will apply the comments and suggestions from their peers to learn more about improving their product, and will implement those suggestions based upon the mass preferences.
Communication and Collaboration
- Learners will hone their communication skills within their own groups when designing their product.
- Learners will articulate their product ideas through a verbal presentation to a panel of potential investors.
- Learners will work in a team of diverse individuals, and demonstrate their cohesiveness as a single unit by presenting a final product that was built together.
